Reiki and Mindfulness: “Together As One”

Welcome to the beautiful fusion of Reiki and mindfulness, where the ancient healing energy of Reiki meets the art of being fully present in the moment.

My name is Joanne Davies, I am a dedicated Reiki Master, and I would like to take a deeper dive into the profound connection between these two practices and how they can enrich our lives and harmonise our energy.

Reiki and Mindfulness

Understanding Reiki and Mindfulness: Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that taps into universal life force energy to restore balance and harmony across our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual self.

Mindfulness is embracing the present moment with open acceptance, observing our thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment. We cannot change the past, our future quickly becomes the past, there is only now that we can act. Releasing what no longer serves us, old habits and limiting beliefs frees us.

The practice of Reiki and Mindfulness: Reiki and mindfulness share a common goal: guiding us into a state of deep awareness and presence. When combined, they magnify each other’s benefits, fostering profound healing and growth.

Deepening our Relaxation: Reiki naturally induces relaxation by soothing the nervous system and easing stress. Pairing it with mindfulness deepens the experience. During a Reiki session we can mindfully observe our breathing, sensations, and thoughts, enhancing relaxation and inner peace.

Enhancing Self-Awareness: Mindfulness prompts us to observe our inner landscape without criticism, with unconditional love and self-awareness. Reiki amplifies this by helping us sense subtle energy within our bodies, connecting our physical sensations with our thoughts and emotions.

Connecting to the Present Moment: Both Reiki and mindfulness anchor us in the now, where healing unfolds. By focusing on the sensations of Reiki energy during a session, we strengthen our ability to be fully present in the present moment.

Practical Tips for Combining Reiki and Mindfulness: Here are examples of this practice that I like to combine before a Reiki session:

Starting each Reiki session with mindful breathing to ground and centre yourself.

I encourage you to be aware of your breath and sensations throughout the session.

Observe any thoughts or emotions with curiosity and compassion, letting them pass without attachment.

You can reflect on your experience afterward, noting any insights that arise. These may be areas of your life that need to be healed and released.

The blend of Reiki and mindfulness offers a potent path to deeper presence, awareness, and healing. By weaving these practices into our daily lives, we can nurture inner peace, clarity, and connection to the present moment.
